Well about the haircut...once we got home and looked in the mirror we
realized what a whack job they'd done it's really choppy and a lot
longer in the front than back and they cut way more than I wanted.
So... Hermana Westergard and I are going to go to the place in the
mall today to get our hair cut again by professionals and get it deep
washed and styled. I'll eventually send a pic after because I'm sure
it's gonna be quite a bit shorter (now that it was starting to grow
out) but it's no biggy. I'm just bugged I had to spend $20 for a bad
haircut. Supposedly you should never get your hair cut by an Armenian,
they don't know how to cut hair.
Yeah, being on a mission has helped me to realize the
need to pray always.
One thing I'm learning out here on my mission, sadly, is what kind of
a marriage and family and husband I don't want to have. A lot of
people out here are in family and marriage situations that aren't very
ideal. But now I know what I DO want.
The weather is way too hot for February down here!!! Idk what it has been during the day but our car has a temperature reader and at 6pm the other night it was 84 degrees. And it was boiling during the day. It doesn't feel like it's still winter!!! I think California weather is a little confused. But today is a little cooler. I really hope this doesn't mean it's gonna be a really hot summer!
Our investigators are doing better. The 11 year old girl is getting close to baptism. And we picked up 6 investigators this week. We picked up a family of 4. The husband is 24 and has a Christian background but stopped going to a church when they moved from Mexico a year ago. His wife is 18 and her mom and sister (10) are all catholic but don't got church often. The husband was super interested and participated the whole time. We think the others were just there for him and didn't really want to answer questions or participate much. But why weren't rude about it. And then another man who is a less active and his wife who is an investigator now came to church for the first time in about 2 years!!! Missionaries have been going by them for years. We were riding our bikes up to the church and from the distance I saw someone who had hair similar to his, but couldn't imagine that it was him. Then we got closer and saw it WAS and his wife was with him. It was a miracle! We've gone by 2-3 times a week since I've been here and way longer than that. He ended up finishing his painting job the night before and his wife didn't have to work today. I honestly felt so much joy that day. Hermana Westergard has had one baptism and she said that was honestly as exciting as a baptism for her.
Yeah we are trying to get them to read the BOM, but no one likes taking the time to read. But there is an app and we have a pass along card for the app download. And we do text and remind.
Hmmm as far as Ward members I have no idea. We sometimes fill up the majority of the chapel with some empty spaces. Supposedly the other Spanish Ward that meets in our building has been really dropping in numbers because of people moving, so there's an idea going around that they might combine the wards. We'll see though. Yeah pretty much all the Spanish missionaries cover only part of one Ward because there's so many Spanish missionaries and so much Spanish work going on. So we cover part and the other 3 sets of missionaries cover other parts of the Ward.
Love, Hermana Hansen
