This week was long and busy, but we were able to meet with a lot of
less actives and recent converts. We also picked up 4 new
investigators.
Monday, 1 December 2014
We went to visit a potential. She wasn't here but her son, Eduardo
was, so we set something up with him. We went and saw Diana and shared
he is the gift with her. We also read Hellman 14 and 3 Nephi 1 about
the signs of Christ's birth in the Americas. She's been reading the
BOM and praying! And she said she feels like the BOM could be true.
Then we dropped cookies off to investigators and less actives. We
stopped by Gonzalo's and he wasn't there but we showed his dad the he
is the gift video and set up a return appointment with him! We
stopped. Y a less actives and shared a message with her and her
boyfriend. Then we saw the morales family (less actives). Alexis was
the only one home. She's about 16 years old. She told us how much she
missed us coming over. She's such a sweetheart. She doesn't come to
church because she's at her dads over the weekend and goes to the
Catholic Church with him, but she's a member.
Tuesday, 2 December 2014
It was pouring raining all day!!! I got to wear my new jacket!!! We
got to talk to lots of people on the bus, it was awesome! I got to
talk to his one guy who's an artist for Warner brothers. He was super
cool and accepted a Mormon.org card. We had a lesson with rosa. She
has been reading from the BOM during her works breaks and sharing
things about it with a coworker. We set up a church tour with her for
Friday (which she didn't show up to). :( Hermana Marquez cancelled.
Then we got a call from Hermana Miriam Hernandez saying she made
chicken soup and wanted us to come by. She's so sweet. We went by and
ate with her and her daughter Desiree who's in like 8th or 9th grade.
Then we visited a former Jomar. He's awesome and you can tell he knows
the church is true, he just doesn't have a strong enough testimony to
do what he KNOWS he needs to do. He's really busy going to school to
be an engineer, going to work and radioing a young family. But we set
something up for not this week but the next. His little daughter
Maryann is super cute. She kept coming up to me and hugging me and
saying "you have pretty hair," and "you have pretty eyes." Haha. He
was surprised because I guess she's usually super shy.
Wednesday, 3 December 2014
It wasn't supposed to rain today. We woke up to bright sunshine and
mostly blue skies. We left to get on he bus to head to the hospital to
volunteer and it started pouring. We got to volunteer at the hospital
and make phone calls for them. Then they gave us a tour of the
hospital because they might start having us to patient escort stuff.
We saw Hermana lam and her son Joshua (less actives we just found) and
taught them about the plan of salvation and having our own personal
plans of salvation, things we need to work on to make it to salvation.
We made more cookies to bring to members and investigators. We found a
giant spider in our apartment which Hna. Nichols killed haha.
Thursday, 4 December 2014
I got to go to my first zone conference!!! It was really good and all
in Spanish, which was actually good. It's cool because our mission
president is from Mexico and one of his counsellors served a mission
in Spain so he knows Spanish. We had a quick lesson with Nancy
morales. We showed he is the gift. She gives the cutest prayers. She
prayed that God would be able to see all the hard work the
missionaries put into their lessons. She's like 6 or 7. I was the
chorister at zone conference, I think I'm now the permanent chorister
for everything! Good thing I like doing it haha.
Friday, 5 December 2014
We tried buy a potentials who we've had 2 appointments set up with.
She wasn't there but it was a nice morning walk outside. We had a
bunch of appointments cancel, but it worked out perfectly because an
Hermana in the Ward ended up needing us to help her translate
something for a background check thing on her son because he's going
into the police force. We visited the morales again and the Hermana
was there! As well as their older sister who's 17. I guess she works a
lot and her mom makes her help to pay for most of the groceries. It's
pretty sad actually. We also got elote today from the elote man. Haha
theres elote carts all over. They sell corn covered in cream, Parmesan
cheese and chili powder. They're super good but probably super
unhealthy.
Saturday, 6 December 2014
A bunch of stuff ended up canceling. We ended up being able to see
Elma, an elderly less active. We shared a Christmas message with her.
She's so funny and showed us around her house, which is gorgeous. We
also got to visit Hermana Bonilla. She's so sweet and gave us a
Spanish cook book. My bag broke, the strap completely fell off. So I
jerry rigged it haha. But it should stay for a while now. I went
through our entire potential list which is sooooo long and called
everyone who had a phone number while Hna. Nichols practiced the
piano. We got invited to go to the baptism on Sunday to play piano and
lead music. My necks been killing me, so I may call sister villanueva
soon and get something set up with the chiropractor soon. But probably
not until the transfer is over.
Sunday, 7 December 214
I love going to church to much. It's funny how when you're a
missionary, you get so comfortable with being in a church. It's like
more our home than our apartment is. Haha. We went to elder stoker and
shumways baptism. After getting there they told me I was singing the
musical number with them. Haha so is the life of a missionary. We
went by and saw Eduardo and his mom angelica and his grandma was also
there. We showed he is the gift and hey liked it. we talked about
serving others and sharing this love God has for us with others. We
set up a rerun appointment with them! We also saw a less active named
matters who's probably about 19. He's from Brazil. We usually visit
his mom because he's hardly home but we just shared a video on the
doorstep since he was the only one there. He know like 3-4 languages.
We weren't able to go to the devotional because we'd have to bring an
investigator and they only had it broadcast in English.
I love each of you and can't wait to talk to you on
Christmas!!!!!
Lots of love, Hermana Hansen

The fall time leaves. It's just starting to turn to fall here. Haha
Our homemade tortillas!
Look what I had this week! Grits!
It really wasn't that bad, we mixed in some butter and salt and pepper. Usually Hna. Nichols adds grated cheese, but we were all out of cheese.
The cookbook Hna. Bonilla gave us. It has some classic Spanish recipes in it. Although I think I'll still get recipes from he members since I know theirs are actually traditional home cooked recipes.
