Thanksgiving was really good. I was scared to death that I'd have to
go to like 4-5 dinners and eat all the food, because that happens a
lot, but we only had 2 dinners! We went to the Valle family's house
with all the elders. Within our area at least, we didn't get any real
thanksgiving dinner, but it's because most of the people in our Ward
are really poor. The Valle's live in a really small shed/house inside
this storage unit. So we had gorditas with them and the Hermana taught
all of us how to make them and we got to make our own. Then we went to
Hermana Sara navas house and celebrated her son Luis' like 21st
birthday. Their family just recently got baptized-Luis, his mom and
sister genny who's about 11. And his 3 year old daughter was there
too. We had pasole (idk how to spell, but it's just hominy soup).
They're super poor and live in this tiny apartment. But they're so
sweet and willing to give all they have. I'm so glad I'm in a poorer
area right now, I can't imagine it any other way. The people here are
so humble. Usually the Hermana makes the food and has the missionaries
sit down to eat while she stands and talks to us. They always have us
eat first. Then on Saturday we dropped by a members and they gave us
some leftovers (ham, sweet potatoes and salad).
Lots and lots of love, Hermana Hansen
