Wow can't believe I've already been here for 6 weeks!!!
I actually brought my journal this time but hopefully I'll have enough
time to type this then write you guys some cards/letters to send out
sometime this week!

We got out to the car and realized that Hermana Nichols had parked the
car in a no parking zone because our whole street had been full. The
sign was down further on the other side of the road so we never saw
it...so we each had to pay $25 each. (That's why I had to get money
out). We went to michaels and bought stuff to make a Sunday jar with
Berenice Nunez and her son Omar. It turned out super cute and we ate
dinner with them. Hermana Nunez is hilarious. She reminds me a little
of aunt Melissa only super sassy! I seriously eat so much I'd be
surprised if I came back the same weight. Haha

I found a bunch of things in my studies in the morning that helped me
to realize some things I needed to work on. It's awesome how that
works. Personal revelation is awesome! I studied the conference talk
by Elder Jörg Klebingat called "Approaching the Throne of God with
Confidence." I'd suggest that for all of you to reads it's awesome,
and if you look at it with the point of finding something you can
improve on, you'll find it :) Almost everyone cancelled on us as far
as appointments go. But we had s lot of good opportunities to talk to
lots of people. We got s referral from English elders we were able to
contact. We also contacted a potential and set up 2 later appointments
with members.

We visited Hermana Marquez, a recent convert who moved to our ward
recently. We had to walk all the way to her house because Hermana
Nichols tire keeps going flat and she didn't want to ruin her bike so
we walked forever and ever. This Hermana lives clear out in the middle
of Claremont. We taught her about the plan of salvation using lots of
scriptures. It was awesome and worth the awful walk in the heat. Then
we went and volunteered at the hospital for a couple hours. They had
us making calls to patients who'd recently had surgery...in Spanish!!!
But thankfully all the calls I made went to the inbox so I just had to
leave messages in Spanish haha. We went by to see Gonzalo, the friend
of a somewhat less active boy in our ward. Gonzalo is golden if I ever
saw a golden investigator. He is so interested and willing to keep
commitments. We have tonight two lessons already: the restoration and
the Book of Mormon. We went and did service for them later in the
week. We taught the navas about testimony. We keep trying to get
Armando on fb but he's never on at the same time as us. We hope he'll
be back in cali soon so we can meet in person and bring him to church.
Thursday, 6 November 2014
we had district meeting last one with everyone all together! We were
waiting at the bus stop and we were there forever. I guess some lady
and guy at the bus stop said there was a cop shot and killed somewhere
just down the road and they were having his funeral. That's why the
roads were closed, so we just walked home. Crazy how many things go on
around you that you're so oblivious to as a missionary. We visited a
less active that I guess Hermana Nichols and everyone else didn't know
existed. She's super old and was taking care of her great
granddaughter when we got there. I guess he only reason she's less
active is because she got in an accident quite a few years ago and
can't drive, so she just doesn't have transportation to get to church.
We told her we'd find her a ride and she said she'd love that. She
ended up calling Sunday morning to say she was feeling sick and
wouldn't be able to make it but hopefully next week! We had dinner
with Obispo (bishop) Olvera, his wife, and their oldest son who's
going to BYUI. They're super sweet and have a nice home. They live in
like an apartmentish place. They're the managers of those apartments
and some apartments down the road from them. We visited the meza
family and also a less active YSA, Jannelle Zaldaña. We're going to be
working with the RS and YSA more.
Friday, 7 November 2014
We taught an investigator rosa and her son angel. He loves Jesus
movies. We gave them one last time and he watched it like 20 times.
His time, her friend came over right after our lesson started and
wanted to join. We showed them The Restoration and they loved it. They
both asked for a copy and wanted us to come back to teach both of
them. :) YAY! We visited Hermana Marquez again and her daughter Aliyah
who is 9. We talked about the BOM and found out Aliyah doesn't have
her own copy so we're gonna bring her one. We went to see Hermana
Hernandez and her daughter Desiree. They're both so sweet and funny.
Our lessons with them are always English which I secretly love ;)
haha. She bought us Costco pizza and we talked about the temple. She
has never been married and wants to find a good Mormon guy and get
sealed in the temple. She is also preparing to get her patriarchal
blessing soon!
Saturday, 8 November 2014
We went to see a potential and had to take the dumb weekend buses. She
didn't end up being there but on our way back, we ended up finding an
awesome potential. She was on the sidewalk holding a car wash sign. It
was a fundraiser for boys basketball I think. She stopped us and asked
us what our church was called and then we passed her again later and
she asked about the priesthood and told us she'd love for us to come
by someday and talk more about it. She said she's living with her
brother right now and would like to meet us like in s park or
something. She got our number to call us. We met a guy named Luke
Matthew on the bus. He was at the bus stop when we got there and the
bus for white a while. He is really interested in learning more. His
ex wife had the missionaries over a few times. He wasn't really
involved in it but he said he'd been in prison and into drugs and
alcohol and was realizing how much it was messing up his life. He said
he was ready to change and had just given up smoking. Gonzalo wasn't
here for our lesson. His friend Juan said he was at the store buying
some stuff because he and his dad were working on the roof. We called
him and offered to help. We got to put jeans on haha. We mostly just
helped carrying all the leftovers to the dumpster! Then we had a
lesson on BOM. Transfer calls!!! Two of our ZLs, Perez and Crawford
are leaving and our DL tovar left to east la. Our new DL is Stewart
who's just finished his 12 weeks of training. But he's awesome! And we
got one new elder, elder longee or something, he's Tongan or Samoan.
Sunday, 9 November 2014
Gonzalo came to church and he loved it. We visited Kate nava a recent
convert who's hasn't been coming to church. We feel like she just
needed to know our love and someone to connect with. We went over and
painted nails, talked about her and the importance of SUNDAY
attendance. She loves hiking so we're gonna try to get something set
up for a future p day to hike. I guess. We have a couple good hikes in
our area because it goes up into the mountains...learn new things
every day.

Only remarkable thing today. The elders did boxing haha.
Out of time and I love you all!
