of our investigators with her homework. She's 11 years old. She is part of a part member family. Her parents and one older sister are members but she and another older sister aren't.
We helped her with her homework for a little, then talked with her. She
really wants to be baptized but isn't sure if she wants to be baptized
right now. She ended up telling us her whole life's story. She's
gone through so much for an 11 year old girl. Her family was super
poor when she was younger. They used to eat just bread and cereal
every day. She'd bring home food from school and give it to her mom to
save for them to eat. She said she only had one outfit that she wore
to school every day and she always got made fun of and bullied. She
told us about how one day she got home from school and their cupboards
were full of food and there were new clothes on the couch for her. She
started crying when she told us that. She said, "It was the church
that gave us the food and clothes. I was so grateful to God for giving
us everything we needed." She is the sweetest, cutest, most gorgeous
11 year old I know. Afterwards we talked more about baptism and
decided to pray about a specific date with her to ask God when she'd
be ready for baptism. She doesn't like saying prayers by herself, so
we kneeled in a circle and held hands and Hna. Westergard started the
prayer, I said the middle part and she ended it. It was a super
powerful prayer and the spirit was so strong. Like she was telling
us, it almost felt like God was kneeling in that circle right there
next to us, holding our hands. She is like a little sister to me,
I love her so much and would do anything to help her see that baptism
and receiving the Holy Ghost is what's really going to bring her true
happiness, because I want her to be truly happy. It's powerful
experiences like that which make me grateful I came on a mission. I'm
also so grateful that I was blessed enough to be born into a family
strong in the gospel with parents who love me and love each other.
Hna. Westergard and I are both excited we're still staying together :)
Yeah, I can't believe I'm getting close to 1/3 of the way through my mission.
Lots of love, Hermana Hansen
