Already losing track of how long I've been here!!!
Again, I don't have my journal or much time this week, so I'm going
from memory really quickly.
Yesterday I decided as part of a "gift to Christ," I'm going to finish
the New Testament before Christmas. That gives me 2 months! But I'm
already in Matthew 26 today! :)
I've also made a goal to write in my journal every day and haven't
missed a day yet!!!
I think I told you about Adrian Romero and his family that we were so
excited to teach. Well we dropped them. We went by and Adrian wasn't
home yet so his wife let us in and we started talking with her. She
said she doesn't believe in organized religion, all we need is God and
the Bible. They don't have a religion. She was starting to soften up a
little. Then Adrian and Miguel, I think the owner of the home who
lives in a little house in their backyard, came home. Miguel is very
religious and although we were kind with everything we taught, he
fought against it all. We never got contentious with him. He was
extremely disrespectful. Adrian didn't say a single thing but seemed
really interested. We both think he felt uncomfortable and that if
he'd been there without his wife and Miguel, he would have commented
and learned something. but yeah, they're not interested right now.
We went on exchanges Friday night to Saturday night with the chino
sisters. I got to go to chino with Hermana Acuña. She's from Mexico
and speaks pretty good English. She's been out about a year and didn't
know any English before her mission. It was tons of fun except we had
to ride bikes ALL day and we only got in 2 or 3 lessons because it
took so long to get from one place to another. But it was good
exercise and we got 10 street contact on Saturday!!! Then we played
volleyball with a couple people from their ward and it was fun!
We had an appointment to do a church tour with Diana but she ended up
having to cancel because this week is college application week and she
was busy. But we're going to see her next week. She said she had
started reading the BOM and loves it so far. She hasn't had too much
time to read but told us after this busy week she hopes to really get
into it! We have a former investigator sister nichols wanted to try to
pick up again, David. I said something about him last week. He wasn't
at church on Sunday so we stopped by his house to see what happened!
He was just getting ready to go get lunch with a friend. We stopped
and asked why he wasn't at church. He said he'd slept in because he
and some friends were out late last night. I could tell something was
off with him. Sister Nichols wanted to show him where the church was
and invite him to commit to coming this next Sunday. Long story short, he wasn't
paying attention and it was kinda a waste, so we just invited him next
week and he said he'd only come if someone knocked on his door on
Sunday to wake him up or he'd sleep right through his alarm. So we're
gonna try to get a member to go by and pick him up.
Well I'm kinda out of time because we need to go grocery shopping, do
laundry and stop at the post office. I'll have Haiden and Halle's
birthday cards in the mail this week!!! Love you all and miss you. <3
